The Amsted team was thrilled to return for the 18th year for our annual weekend dedicated to making repairs and enhancements at Camp Smitty. This weekend is one we eagerly anticipate each year, and it continues to grow in both participation and impact.
Over the years, our commitment to Camp Smitty has led us to donate time, labor, and materials valued at over $1 million. This year was no exception; we were joined by over 100 enthusiastic volunteers, including Amsted staff, trade partners, and their families. Our team was excited to kick off the weekend with a head start on Friday, ensuring we made the most of our time at the camp.
Here’s a snapshot of what we accomplished this year:
- Constructed 3 new pavilions
- New steps and hardscaping at the Log Cabin
- Built tent platforms for campers
- Treehouse Repairs
- Drywall Repairs and fresh paint
- Gardening and clean-up
- Clearing brush and tree removal
A huge thank you to the BGC and Camp Smitty for their ongoing hospitality and partnership year after year. The opportunity to give back to our community and utilize our skills in meaningful ways is incredibly rewarding for everyone involved.
We also want to extend our gratitude to our partners: Kelly Santini LLP, Kelly Huibers McNeely Accounting, Zacconi Contracting, Dumont Interlock LTD, FM Interlock, Dr. Waste, and Stone Concepts Design. Thank you for joining us and being an integral part of the Amsted team. Your support amplifies our efforts and helps us make a more significant impact.
Special thanks to Home Hardware Stittsville, Home Depot Kanata, Sunbelt Rentals, and Ideal Roofing, for their contributions and donated supplies that help us bring these projects to life.
We look forward to returning to Camp Smitty for many more years to come!
