An unfinished lower level offered a perfect blank canvas to help a family create an awesome basement renovation that has everything on their wish list, including a space for their beloved turtles. There’s a movie theatre, home gym, hidden sewing station and plenty of room to relax — with clever ways to tuck things away when not in use. Our efforts have resulted in this project being nominated for the Basement Renovation award at the upcoming Housing Design Awards of the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association.
Meet the Finalist: Main-Floor Makeover Nominated for Three Awards
It’s humbling to have one of our projects nominated for three awards — and to have them be at both the local and provincial level! Here’s a closer look at the project.
Meet the Finalist: Home Renovation Gets Double Nominations

Thrilled to Be Named Renovator of the Year a 7th Time!
It is an honour to be recognized by the industry for our projects, as we were at the recent Housing Design Awards hosted by the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association. That recognition has even more meaning as, facing some stiff competition, we were once again named the Renovator of the Year.
It’s always a joy to work on a project in which balancing the scale of a home brings out its true charms. Such was the case with this impressive Carp home that sat alone atop a hill, and it resulted in two finalist nods for the upcoming Housing Design Awards.
Powder rooms make a great canvas for having some fun. They’re small, contained spaces where adding extra oomph doesn’t seem like too much of a commitment and they offer a bit of an unexpected pop for your guests. That was the case with this powder room renovation, one of our finalists in this month’s Housing Design Awards.
Many of our renovation projects involve opening up spaces. Once upon a time, dividing rooms by their function was the way to design, but many of today’s families prefer a more open concept so that family members can still be together even when they’re doing different activities.
While validation of our work comes from a homeowner’s satisfaction in a job well done, it’s also a thrill to be recognized by our peers. That’s why we always look forward to awards season!

Amsted Named a Finalist for the CHBA National Awards for Housing Excellence
A finalist in both the local and provincial competitions, Amsted's dramatic main level transformation of a home in the Glebe has now been selected as a finalist on the national stage. The project, which involved rebuilding a rotting addition and reworking the layout of the entire main floor, was designed to respect the home's Victorian heritage, while creating a more functional floorplan for this young family. Dramatic colours and a grand foyer now occupy the formal front of the home, while a mudroom and open concept kitchen and living room at the back allow ample space for everyday living.
Every detail was considered in this thoughtful renovation, and we thank the homeowners for entrusting us to create a home that is unmistakably theirs.
