What are renovation details? They’re the countless small and large decisions that must be made and the extensive planning and preparation that must go into a project before we’re even ready to swing a hammer. In the 7th video of our series, Amsted President Steve Barkhouse shows how the success of a renovation is in the details, details, details.
At this point in our proven process, you’ve gone through the magic of creation (ie., coming up with the design for your new space) and will have a solid understanding of the outline of your project and what it will cost.
Now it’s time to fill in the details. This is where we work with you to figure out all of the things you’ll appreciate when you step into your new space – the design decisions. Our experienced design team will help guide you through the wealth of choices, from big items like flooring and cabinetry, to seemingly smaller items such as trim and tile detail. Our team makes this process exciting and fun, while providing great advice and ideas.
Taking care of all of these decisions now helps us make sure everything will be ready when needed during construction.
At the same time, our team is working behind the scenes preparing everything that’s needed to move your project into the construction phase, like creating permit drawings and submitting for building permits and readying your construction contract.
“Get it in writing,” says the Canadian Home Builders’ Association, and that’s one of the most important things we stress in any renovation. Your construction contract with Amsted includes:
- Start and end dates
- Five-year warranty details
- A detailed agreed upon scope of work
- Completed drawings
- Your payment schedule with a guaranteed fixed price
With all of this, you can feel confident moving forward knowing your budget, timing and design goals have been met. Ready to get started?
