After downsizing to a condo, our clients on Guigues Avenue decided it was time to add some style and functionality to their new space. The transition from a house to a condo was a welcome change for these long-time clients. Following the exciting move, two burning renovation-desires were top of mind: open up the new space and make it as easy-to-use as possible. Our design-build team was on it.
Layout and Functionality Layer
In deference to their age, our clients were looking to improve accessibility by converting the existing storage to more practical roll-out cabinets and drawers. This enabled them easier access to get what they need, when they need it.
We also added a new granite countertop and double undermount sink to create a sleek line on the peninsula. Granite is a timeless and functional addition to any kitchen. Not only is it easy to clean and maintain, it looks absolutely stunning.
Lighting Layer
A generous amount of pot lights were added to brighten up our client’s new space. The pot lights not only provide consistent lighting to the condo, but make the space much easier to navigate and offer a more open appearance; a welcome compliment to their new downsized lives.
Aesthetic Layer
We worked with these clients to preserve their unique taste and style, while also keeping budget in mind. Maintaining the existing IKEA cabinetry boxes while resurfacing the doors allowed us to prioritize both. The new light blue cabinets to add a touch of colour. We then leveraged natural elements such as hand-selected walnut lowers, black pearl granite, and a metal backsplash to maintain consistency.
Their new stainless steel hood fan rounds out the natural palette, providing an added sparkle to a fresh space which already shines effortlessly.
