In the second part of our latest appearance on CTV News at Noon, Amsted President Steve Barkhouse shares how getting the kids involved can lead to a less stressful, and more successful, renovation.
Since children are usually an important part of the reason for upgrading in the first place, why not let them feel like they are part of the process?
As he explains further in the video, here are some start-to-finish ways for everyone to be involved:
- Use architectural building blocks by Blockitecture to introduce children to the process by letting them build themselves, or have them paint a picture of the upcoming renovation
- Let your children take ownership of their private spaces, like their bedroom, by letting them choose paint colours and decals, or maybe a spot for chalkboard paint
- Have fun with the construction – especially demolition! – by getting the kids child-sized safety equipment and tools
- Then find ways they can help put things back together, like an area they can paint, assembling furniture (even the youngest child can turn an Allen key) or helping to hang hooks
A further tip: When renovating with children, be mindful to select a family-oriented design-builder you trust. If we can help, give us a call!
